Hello, I'm Dr Cheryl Lee Aeschlimann.

Thank you for visiting my website. I have created it myself so I can reach out to you personally.

Why Myopia Became My Life's Work

When I returned to Singapore after my training overseas, one thing immediately struck me. Everywhere I looked, children, teenagers and adults were wearing glasses.

Singapore has one of the highest rates of myopia in the world, and I began asking myself an important question: Were we doing enough to protect the long-term eye health of patients with myopia?

For me, myopia has never been simply about helping people see clearly without glasses. High myopia is associated with an increased risk of retinal detachment, glaucoma, earlier cataracts and other potentially sight-threatening conditions.

That realisation shaped the direction of my career. I wanted to care for patients throughout every stage of life—from slowing myopia progression in children, to helping adults achieve freedom from glasses, and caring for the eye conditions associated with myopia as people grow older.

Today, myopia control is one of the defining strengths of our clinic.

I have a 12 year old son , Mark. He has perfect eye sight. There are not many 55 year ophthalmologists with a child growing up in this era of devices. I will share with you techniques tried and proven to prevent myopia. If your child is already myopic, I will keep it stable and not increases. There are tips and there are techniques Not just relying on eye drops.

As both an ophthalmologist and a mother, I understand how worrying it is to watch your child's prescription increase every year.

My passion for myopia control became even stronger after my own son, Mark, was born. The advice I share with parents is the same advice I follow with my own family.

Every child deserves the opportunity to keep their myopia as low as possible and protect their vision for the future.

"Everything I recommend to your child, I've first considered for my own son."

Every extra degree of myopia increases the lifetime risk of retinal detachment, glaucoma and myopic macular degeneration.
