Cataract Surgery Expertise

Cataract surgery is the most common surgical procedure performed by Dr Cheryl Lee. She has extensive experience performing modern cataract surgery using advanced techniques and intraocular lenses to restore vision and improve quality of life.

Cataracts are a natural part of ageing and occur when the eye’s natural lens becomes cloudy. Modern cataract surgery replaces the cloudy lens with a clear artificial lens, allowing light to focus properly on the retina.

Dr Lee takes time to explain the procedure, lens options and expected outcomes so that patients can make informed decisions about their vision. Her speciality is offering the patient spectacle freedom for seeing far and near after cataract surgery.

Vision Correction and Implantable Contact Lens (ICL) Surgery

Dr Cheryl Lee also provides vision correction procedures for patients who wish to reduce dependence on glasses or contact lenses.

One option is Evo Implantable contact lens (ICL) surgery, which involves placing a small biocompatible lens inside the eye to correct refractive errors.

Dr Cheryl Lee is an international authority on the Implantable Contact Lens.

ICL surgery may be particularly suitable for patients with:

  • higher degrees of myopia

  • significant astigmatism

  • thin corneas that may not be suitable for laser procedures

  • dry eyes

  • patients who want a reversible procedure (no regrets)

Unlike laser vision correction procedures that permanently reshape the cornea, ICL preserves the natural structure of the eye and is reversible if necessary.

Myopia (short-sightedness) is becoming increasingly common in children.Dr Lee is particularly interested in prevention of myopia and sees kids form age 4 years to teach good eye habits.

Hello, I am Dr Cheryl Lee Aeschlimann. I have 35 years experience as an eye doctor. I returned to Singapore after more than 10 years working in Bristol, Bath, Cheltenham & Cambridge in England, Bascom Palmer in Miami, USA and Pitie-Salpetriere in Paris, France. Since returning, it has been an honour to have been inducted to the Straits Times Hall of Fame.
I have been fortunate to be given the opportunity to be trained in many sub-specialties. I am an adult cataract and retinal surgeon, dry eye specialist and a paediatric myopia specialist. This means I take care of conditions from young to old that revolve around myopia - myopia control in children, getting rid of glasses in adults, cataract and retinal surgeries in mature adults and dry eye management.

The motto has been from the start to offer patients more in terms of innovation, higher quality treatment options and personal attention. As a result, over the 15years, The Eyeclinic by Dr Cheryl Lee has differentiated itself by being the only clinic that offers all research proven options for myopia control, curing dry eyes with machines and not depending on drops, performing an award number of EVO Implantable Collamer Lens (beyond Lasik) and introducing premium lenses for getting rid of reading glasses.

I am a mum of a 11 year old boy which explains my passion and conviction for myopia control in children. When I attend to your child, the tricks and tips I share with you, I have tried out on Mark. Yes! the tricks work as he has perfect eye sight.

In 2022, we started a specialist dry eye clinic also at Mandarin Gallery as we realised there were so many patients who suffer from dry eyes and the only treatment they were offered were drops which do not cure the root of the dry eye problem

I am happy to discuss any eye concerns of yours in English, Mandarin, Teochew, Hokkien, French, Spanish, Russian or Malay.

To reach out to you personally, I have created this website myself. I hope you find informative, fun and useful the videos and stories I share.-Cheryl Lee Aeschlimann
