FAQ for general eye check
How long does an eye check take?
A comprehensive eye examination usually takes between 30 and 60 minutes depending on the tests required.
Do I need regular eye checks if my vision is good?
Yes. Many eye conditions such as glaucoma and early cataracts do not cause symptoms and only during the check can it be diagnosed.
How often should adults have an eye examination?
Adults are generally advised to have an eye check every 1–2 years, or more frequently if recommended by an ophthalmologist. If there is not family history of eye problems , Age 40 is a good time to have the first eye check. Patients who wear glasses for myopia should be checked yearly from as early an age as possible. Why ? Myopia is linked to cataracts, glaucoma , retinal tears and detachment.
An eye problem could be spotted at a general health screening like high eye pressure or a photo suggestive of glaucoma. At The Eye Clinic by Dr Cheryl Lee , we will confirm or rule out the suspicion.
