Dr Cheryl Lee brings back with her more than 10 years of International experience in the field of ophthalmology. She received a wide range of specialist training at Cheltenham, Cambridge and Bristol in the UK, the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute in Miami, Florida and the Pitie-Salpetriere hospital in Paris. She was a consultant medical and surgical retinal specialist in London before her current appointment.
She is a trained retinal surgeon with special interests in vision correction for short and long-sighted, cataracts, droopy eyelids surgery and medical retinal diseases.
Dr Lee’s academic accolades include the Gold Medal and Book Prize in Ophthalmology from the National University of Singapore, the Marie Comer Anglian Prize in Ophthalmology from the University of Cambridge,UK and the best lecturer of the year award in 2007/2008 from the University of Bristol,UK. She also achieved distinction in the Alcon Glaucoma UK Competition in 2005.
Dr Lee has been involved in laboratory research in retinal stem cells and was a clinical investigator for LUCENTIS® (ranibizumab injection) which has revolutionised the treatment of age related macular degeneration. She was also involved in European trials for macula hole surgery.
Dr Lee is multilingual and is fluent in English, Mandarin, Malay, French, Spanish, Teochew, Hokkien and Cantonese.
